Pasha Hub is a registered refugee youth hub under the Uganda Registration Service Bureau/Company Act of Incorporation. The idea of creating a platform for refugees to write and tell their own stories started in 2020 under the organization PPDR during the COVID-19 pandemic. The name “PASHA” is derived from the Swahili word meaning “TO TELL,” reflecting the core mission of the hub: to let the world understand and empathize with the experiences hidden behind the tears of refugees. PASHA is not just a platform for storytelling; it is a beacon of hope, guiding refugees to live despite their sorrows. Beyond sharing stories in 2022 PASHA added a component of poetry, slam, writing, music, and acting to accommodate everyone and serve as a safe space for those who wish to express themselves with their talents. PASHA aims to help refugees extend their limits of expression, and overcome shyness, depression, and trauma, creating a community where they can find solace and strength. The hub also seeks to educate and inspire youth, highlighting the resilience and wisdom that can be found in the voices of refugees. It emphasizes that hope is born through pens, pencils, steps, and voices, and that to make the world understand their pain, refugees must speak out.
